Sara Bottana nasce a Pavia, dove si laurea in Lingue e Culture Moderne presentando una tesi dal titolo "Dubbing Federico Fellini's motion picture "Amarcord": From Romagnolo Dialect into English"; la tesi, discussa in inglese, è stata redatta sotto la guida di Maria Gabriella Pavesi. Dopo alcune esperienze lavorative nell'ambito della didattica nella scuola pubblica si sposta all'Università per Stranieri di Siena, dove si laurea con Massimo Palermo in Scienze Linguistiche e Comunicazione Interculturale con una tesi in cui si propone un lavoro di ricerca e analisi sperimentale intitolata "Il peso del non-detto nel discorso pubblicitario: un confronto interlinguistico". Dal 2018 collabora con il Centro DITALS come tutor di tesi per il Master DITALS di I livello e seguendo il progetto europeo IDEAL per la promozione delle competenze digitali nella glottodidattica (http://platform.ideal-project.eu/ ). Dal 2021 è dottoranda in Linguistica Storica, Linguistica Educativa e Italianistica presso l'Università per Stranieri di Siena, con un progetto relativo all'italiano scritto accademico: nella fattispecie si occupa della dimensione logico-argomentativa nei manuali per gli studi universitari, con particolare attenzione ai nessi logici di causa-effetto e alla relazione tra testo espositivo-argomentativo e componenti paratestuali (infografiche e tabelle). Linee di ricerca e di interesse: Linguistica testuale. Lingua dei manuali universitari. Linguaggi specialistici e settoriali. Pragmatica e sociolinguistica dell'italiano. Tecniche della traduzione. Competenze digitali per l'insegnamento delle lingue.

Sara Bottana was born in Pavia, where she graduated in Modern Languages and Cultures presenting a thesis entitled "Dubbing Federico Fellini's motion picture "Amarcord": From Romagnolo Dialect into English"; the thesis was discussed in English and was written under the guidance of Maria Gabriella Pavesi. After some work experiences in the field of teaching in public schools, she moved to the University for Foreigners of Siena, where she graduated with Massimo Palermo in Linguistic Sciences and Intercultural Communication with a thesis in which she proposed a work of research and experimental analysis entitled "The weight of the implicitness in advertising discourse: an interlinguistic comparison." Since 2018, she has been collaborating with the DITALS Center as a thesis tutor for the Level I DITALS Master's program and she has been following the European project IDEAL for the promotion and integration of digital skills in language teaching (http://platform.ideal-project.eu/ ). Since 2021, she is a PhD student in Historical Linguistics, Educational Linguistics and Italian Studies at the University for Foreigners of Siena, with a project related to academic written Italian: in this case, she is dealing with the logical-argumentative dimension in textbooks for university studies, with particular attention to logical cause-effect links and the relationship between expository-argumentative text and paratextual components (infographics and tables). Lines of research and interest: Textual linguistics. Language of university textbooks. Specialized and sectorial languages. Pragmatics and sociolinguistics of Italian. Translation techniques. Digital skills for language teaching.
